During the last few decades, the armed forces of the GCC states (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman) have undergone a transformative evolution. From humble origins and despite often facing human resource constraints and intra-GCC co-operative challenges, they have metamorphosed into some of the region's most technologically-advanced military entities. Modernisation has been pivotal to this transformation. Procuring state-of-the-art equipment, many of the GCC countries have been relentless in bolstering their military prowess. With defence spending accounting for over 5% of global expenditures, these nations have been key players in the defence landscape.
